Subject: The Twitterverse
Watching media people and political pundits pouring over tweets by Donald Trump is hilarious. They attempt to interpret what the latest Trump tweet means. Why not spill a box of 12 dozen alphabet blocks on the floor and looking for a meaning in the pattern?
Nothing meaningful can be conveyed in 140 characters or less. Twitter was invented to facilitate social chatter between family, friends and acquaintances. Meaningful conversation uses other means of communications including face to face meetings.
We can convey coherent thoughts in 140 words but not in 140 characters. There is no depth to tweets. Reading nuances and character from tweets is impossible. One cannot discern whether the author is being funny, kidding, sarcastic, serious, sober or witty.
Trump is playing the media and critics like a fiddle. They are spellbound by his electronic utterances. Tweets are not useful for serious analysis, conversation or debate. While twits analyze his tweets, Trump is organizing his Presidency without endless lame questions. He has provided grist for the media mill and it is content.
The same media and pundits who told us that Clinton would win by a landslide are now telling us what a disaster a Trump presidency will be. They failed to fool us the first time and refuse to admit they were wrong or learn from the experience.
Most of the angst is coming from people who see no problems with how the US is governed. Electors are fed up with a political system that has lost touch with their aspirations and needs and want something better. Trump offered better and different. That has made many in government wonder what the future holds for them for the first time ever. They are used to being obeyed, not questioned.
I will wait to see how Trump performs.
