Subject: Government media collusion

We often hear charges of the media or elements thereof being in bed with government, but rarely see a clear indication. We are so used to the idea that we miss what happens right in front of us.

Alberta oil patch workers decided to send a convoy to Ottawa to protest the federal governments failure to support pipeline construction, effectively shutting down oilfield production and costing Alberta and Canada thousands of jobs and $ billions in income.

The federal government was deep in the SNC-Lavalin scandal and did not need another protest to deal with. A decision was taken to discredit the Alberta convoy leadership and their message.

As the convoy headed east, media stories started appearing about the Alberta convoy containing anti-immigration and racist elements.

Stop and reread that last sentence.

The stories did not state that anti-immigrant and racist elements had joined the convoy, but that the convoy contained anti-immigration and racist elements. The latter phrasing suggests that the Alberta convoy leaders were part of the radical elements. It was a smear job character assassination guilt by association.

As the convoy moved further east, media attention to the radical elements increased and the original message of the convoy was ignored. By the time the convoy reached Ottawa, its appearance was a zoo of various protest groups using the opportunity to get some public and media attention. Convoy leadership had been successfully hijacked.

The final insult came when the media blasted politicians who came out in support of Alberta convoy members for not condemning the anti-immigration and racist elements! The media had used a barrel of ink to raise awareness of these radicals without one word of condemnation and now chastised others for not doing what is should have done from the outset.

The message the Alberta convoy set out to deliver had been successfully muted, lost in a cacophony of competing protests and the government was not forced to address the convoy message.

Most people missed the combined government media effort to shut down the Alberta convoy protest. That is the danger in uncritical acceptance of media reporting. The hypocrisy is jaw-dropping but typical of this government. The media does not just report on events and outcomes; it is creating outcomes the government wants.

Hackett Financial Advisors say the sun shapes climate.
(Obviously heretical view - It's CO2 from humans ... not the sun)
https://www.producer.com/2019/02/here-comes-the-sun-and-trouble/?utm_source=Western+Producer&utm_campaign=92563db063-Western+Producer+Saturday+Edition+-+2019-02-23&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_a5b062b4c9-92563db063-88210257

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

Here comes the sun and trouble

The expected impact from the Earth entering into the first trough of a grand solar minimum phase of the suns sunspot cycle varies, depending on whos asked.

Analyst says a looming solar cycle will bring volatile weather and disrupt markets, but Environment Canada disagrees

Hold onto your hats because the Earth is about to enter a weather cycle that will rock grain markets for years to come, says an analyst.

Shawn Hackett, owner of Hackett Financial Advisors, said the Earth is entering into the first trough of a grand solar minimum phase of the suns sunspot cycle.

He said every 200 years or so the suns magnetic fields cancel each other out and sunspots are unable to form the way they usually would.

That is going to lead to extreme weather volatility and reduced yields around the globe.

Hackett said 2019 will be the last year of decent growing conditions and then it is going to turn ugly real ugly.

We expect the next three years to be very, very disruptive and expect food prices to absolutely go nuts to the upside, he said.

Environment Canada has a different take on the solar cycle. It says the radiant energy from the sun fluctuates by a small amount over the 11-year solar cycle.

These fluctuations can explain global temperature variations of up to approximately 0.1 C between the strongest and weakest parts of the cycle, spokesperson Veronica Petro said in an e-mail.

At present, there is very low confidence concerning future solar forcing irradiance estimates, including changes to the duration of the solar minimum.

Even if there is a decrease in solar activity it would have a much smaller effect on global temperatures than the projected increases in greenhouse gases, she said.

But Hackett expects a major cooling pattern when the weather pattern transitions from El Nino to La Nina during the trough of a grand solar minimum. And that will likely occur during the 2020 to 2022 period.

Weather effects, like those in this Ohio corn crop in 2012, will become the norm through 2022, say some in the grain industry. | File photo
This kind of weird, strange, kind of odd weather weve been seeing in the last 12 to 18 months is just the beginning of whats going to become a far more severe pattern over time, he said.

The usual west-to-east flow of the northern and southern jet streams will switch to a more north-to-south flow. The recent polar vortex is one example of what will happen far more frequently.

There will be more cosmic rays reaching the Earths atmosphere and that is going to result in increased cloud cover and more earthquakes and volcanic eruptions, he said.

All of those changes will result in reduced U.S. grain output along the lines of 2012 and 2006, according to Hackett.

I dont want to sound like theres no hope for the future with this new weather pattern, he said.

Im not saying that at all. In fact, theres tremendous opportunity because markets will start moving like crazy.

Hackett said that is far more preferable than todays corn market, where price volatility is at a 50-year low.

He said farmers will do better in the next five years than they have in the past five as long as they are prepared for whats coming.

Hackett advises his clients to store as much grain as possible and wait for prices to move higher.

You cannot miss this, he said.

They should buy futures and options that keep them open to the upside in grain markets rather than selling production two or three years out at todays prices.

He is also advising clients to start growing shorter-season varieties because the growing season is going to be truncated by late-spring frosts and early fall frosts.

For your information - what's coming
Subject: Elections Canada - Political Entities Service Centre (PESC)

Good afternoon,

Beginning February 6, 2019, Elections Canada will be piloting a new online service
platform for political entities entitled the Political Entities Service Centre (or PESC). This
secure online portal will offer an additional channel for political entities to access tools,
information and services from Elections Canada. The first users of the new service will be
confirmed candidates and official agents in ongoing by-elections.

During the pilot phase of PESC, Elections Canada will invite target users to set up their
account on the new system, so they may access available services, and provide feedback to
Elections Canada.

The following services will be offered to pilot users in the winter of 2019:

Secure access to the Political Entities Service Centre
Access to by-election electoral documents such as lists of electors, lists of polling
locations, electoral district maps
Maintenance of a contact profile with Elections Canada
Dedicated support information for political entities

An expanding service offering will begin later in 2019, at which time the PESC will serve as
a one-stop shop for information and services for political entities. Users will be able to
submit forms and documents (including candidate nominations and financial returns), access
timely advice and information, as well as have access to an expanded documents library.

Following this letter, you will receive an email invitation from Elections Canada with
instructions on how to create your account. Should you require further information or
support, we encourage you to contact the Political Entities Support Network by telephone at
1-800-486-6563 or by email at CSEP-PESC@elections.ca.

We look forward to your participation and feedback as we launch this exciting new service,
and we hope that it will streamline your efforts during electoral processes.

Sincerely,

Elections Canada

Subject: Conservatives take flak over Heritage Minutes parody ad video
Historica Canada says they often welcome spoofs, but not for partisan purposes

Elise von Scheel
CBC News
Feb 03, 2019

The federal Conservative party temporarily deleted a political attack ad parodying the Heritage Minutes, after receiving a request from the organization that produces the historical TV segments, before re-posting the video with a disclaimer.

The video, entitled Liberal Scandals: Part of Our Heritage, was posted to leader Andrew Scheer's Twitter and Facebook accounts Saturday night.

By the next morning, Historica Canada  the non-partisan organization that makes the videos   released a statement calling for the removal of the video.

"While we often welcome parodies of the Minutes, we do not approve of them being used for partisan political purposes," it reads.

The video was deleted in the afternoon, before being re-posted with a disclaimer.

Anthony Wilson-Smith, the president and CEO of Historica, told CBC News he was advised of the video by his staff Sunday morning. Even with the newly added disclaimer, Wilson-Smith said the Conservative ad runs "counter to the spirit" of the heritage commercials.

The Conservative spoof used similar styles of narration, graphics and historical photos to those in the official Heritage Minutes spots, but the Tory segment lashes out at Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his cabinet for various ethical and conflict-of-interest breaches.

It details the prime minister's breach of ethics laws for his vacation to the Aga Khan's private island, the violation of conflict of interest rules by then-fisheries minister Dominic LeBlanc when he awarded a lucrative Arctic surf clam licence to a company linked to his wife's cousin, and Finance Minister Bill Morneau stalling to disclose a private corporation that owns a villa in southern France that he shares with his wife.

It also criticized Minister Jane Philpott for using the luxury driving services of a political supporter. The ethics commissioner cleared her of any wrongdoing in the spending controversy.

Are we witnessing opening of the CPC 2015 election campaign v 2.0? Underestimating the intelligence of your support and potential support is not an auspicious opening.

It is irrelevant what Scheer and the CPC think of Trudeau and the Liberals and vice versa. We are tired of the comedy routine. Social media and e-mails have been filled with partisan videos, cartoons and less than polite political commentary for the past two years. Attack ads are passe and boring.

Tell us how the CPC is going to govern differently. Lead like you're serious or get the hell out of the road and watch the PPC roll over you. We can wind up with a minority government and the PPC holding the balance of power. We can also wind up with the CPC holding the balance of power.

Political parties are all buried to their eyeballs in populism and statism. We have not seen fresh ideas or approaches for decades. All decisions are politically risk adverse. Do not, in any circumstance, make any decision that may cost you votes. That is the polar opposite of representative governance.

Governments cannot control the economy except in socialist dictatorships. In a democratic, free market nation, we are at the mercy of international trade in goods, services and finances. We need to protect ourselves from corporation that have grown larger than many nations and from internal cartel that corner a niche market and overcharge the public for the services and goods they control.

Canada has an extensive and enviable social services network, but it is highly fragmented, inefficient and overly costly. We have created a social services industry the delivers services badly. Failings of our social services network, and there are many, are supplemented by charities. If the social services industry actually worked, we would not need homeless shelters, soup kitchens, food banks and other services charities provide. We are failing our most vulnerable.

We are tired of governments that can't or won't. We don'
t care why. We are promised prosperity but as the decades roll by all we have to show for it is increased debt. Someone has the bite the bullet and govern ethically, honestly, prudently and responsibly. We need seasoned adults at the helm who are dedicated to serving the best interests of the constituents they represent. Nothing less will do.
