Subject: IBM cost for Phoenix pay system now $185 Million

There is little I can add to the article below. The final paragraph is chilling if that takes another six months, 12 months, 24 months, and it takes another billion dollars, then that's what it's going to take. The distain for public funds and spending is palpable. No one is on the carpet or in danger of losing a job over this fiasco.

A firm I worked for hired IBM to create a data base. They told us that they could tweak one of their products to fit our needs. That was not possible. We created what we needed in-house. When we were done, and the system had proven itself, IBM tried to buy it. We knew IBM would remarket our system to others including our competitors, so we declined selling.

PeopleSoft puts out excellent products that are highly adaptable within the design framework. End users must be ready to change some methods and routines to stay within system parameters. Failing or refusing to change leads to endless headaches when patches are added that the system was not designed to manage. That is likely why Phoenix has turned into a mess. You work within system parameters if you buy or build from the ground up.

With Trudeaus sky-high popularity, it may not matter whos leading the NDP

Re: If Jagmeet Singh wins the NDP leadership dont assume he will be rejected in Quebec, by Chantal Hebert, Sept. 22.

Chantal Hebert writes: In 2015, the Liberals, under Justin Trudeau, won a majority of Quebec seats. These days the prime ministers Liberal party is more popular in his home-province than any of its federal and provincial counterparts.

Most of Liberal partys popularity stems from Prime Minister Justin Trudeaus personal appeal. Latest poll by Nanos Research found more than 50 per cent of respondents think Trudeau is the best person to be the prime minister. And he is equally popular in Quebec and Ontario where most people live.

With such stratospheric popularity, Trudeau is likely to be re-elected in a second landslide in 2019. It may not matter who will lead the NDP.
